ORDER OF THE MOST HOLY SAVIOUR OF
SAINT BRIDGET
PROPER OF THE MASS OF SAINT
 BRIDGET OF SWEDEN
 RELIGIOUS AND PATRONESS OF
 EUROPE (FEAST)

ENTRANCE ANTI PHON

Let us all rejoice in the Lord,
As we celebrate this feast day in honour of Saint Bridget.
The angels rejoice in her glory
And together praise the Son of God.

COLLECT

O Lord,
You have guided Saint Bridget by the hand
through the various ways of her life,
and in the contemplation of the Passion of your Son,
You have shown her the wisdom of the Cross.
Grant that, each in one's proper state of life,
We look for you in all things.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son who is God And who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit For ever and ever. Amen

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS

Merciful Father, you have impressed in Saint Bridget the image of the new man,
Created in justice and holiness after having mortified in her the old man
Grant that we be also renewed in the spirit that we may be worthy to offer this acceptable propitiatory sacrifice.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

COMMUNION ANTIPHON

Love justice and hate evil.
God, your God, has anointed you
With the oil of gladness, choosing you among your equals. (Ps. 44,8)

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Almighty God,
You protect us with the strength of this sacrament.
Through the example of Saint Bridget,
may we learn to look for you above all things,
in order to carry within us, as witnesses, the imprint of the new man.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

First Reading
A realding from the book of Tobit.

The angel Raphael called the two men aside privately and said to them;”Thank God! Give him the praise and the glory. Before all the living, acknowledge the many good things he has done for you, by blessing and e4tolling his name in song. Before all men, honor and proclaim God's deeds and do not be slack in praising him. A king's secret it is prudent to keep, but the works of God are to be declared and made known. Praise them with due honor. Do good, and evil will not find its way to you. Prayed and fasting are good, but better, then/either is almsgiving accompanied by righteousness. A little righteousness is better than abundance with wickedness. It is better to give alms than to store up gold; for almsgiving saves one from death and expiates every sin. Those who regularly give alms shall enjoy a full life; but those habitually guilty of sin are their own worst enemies.

I will now tell you the whole truth; I will conceal nothing at all from you. When you prayed with tears and when you did not hesitate to rise from your dinner to bury the dead, it was I who presented your prayers to the Lord. It was precisely because you were acceptable to God that it was necessary to put you to the test.
This is the Word of God

Responsorial Psalm:

He has put his angels in charge of you,
To guard you in all your ways.

He who dwell in the shelter of the Most High,
Who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
Say to, the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust. R/

For he will rescue you from the snare of the fowler,
From the destroying pestilence.
With his pinions he will cover you,
And under his wings you shall take refuge. R/

His faithfulness is a buckler and a shield.
You shall not fear the terror of the night
Nor the arrow that flies by day;
Not the pestilence that roams in darkness
Nor the devastating plague at noon. R/

No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall affliction come near your tent,
For h his angels he has given command about you,
That they guard you in all your ways. R/

RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Ps 44:11-12. 14-17

R. The bridegroom is here!
Go out and meet Christ the Lord.

Listen, O daughter, give ear to my words:
forget your own people and your father's house.
So will the king desire your beauty:
He is your lord, pay homage to him. R.

The daughter of the king is clothed with splendor,
her robes embroidered with pearls set in gold.
She is led to the king with her maiden companions. R.

They are escorted amid gladness and joy;
they pass within the palace of the king.
Sons shall be yours in place of your fathers:
you will make them princes over all the earth. R.

Second Reading         James 2: 1417

A reading from the letter of James

What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not arks? Can his faith save him? If a brother or sister is without clothing and in lack of daily food, and one of you says to them: "Go in peat, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.

Alleluia;
Let your light shine before men,
That they may see your good works and glorify your Father.

Gospe1
    Mt. 5: 13 - 16

A reading from the holy gospel according to Matthew
You are the light of the world.

Jesus said to His disciples: "You are the salt of the earth. But hat if salt goes flat? How can you restore its flavor? Then it is good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."
"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Men do not light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket. They set it on a stand where it gives light to all the house. In the same way, your light must shine before men so that they may see goodness in your acts and give praise to your heavenly Father."

This is the Gospel of the Lord.
