SPIRITUALITY AND CHARISMA
It is important to underline that since 1972 the Bridgettines have been offering to the Catholics and Lutherans living in Rome, as well as to non-Catholic tourists, a place for cult in the Church at Piazza Farnese.
The history of the Order begins under the sign of encounter between persons of different origins in language, culture and social status. The religious personality of Mother Hesselblad unites and holds firmly together the newcomers to the community. Evangelical simplicity, centrality of the adoration of the Eucharist, deep respect for guests in houses run by the Bridgettines, a marked sense of beauty and of sacredness that distinguishes the convents and the behaviour of the Sisters: these are some signs of the Bridgettine spirituality manifested in the daily giving of self in accordance with the teachings of Saint Bridget and Blessed Elisabeth.
The religious testimony of Mother Hesselblad is an example of holiness for the Third Millennium, a credible sign that resounds in a phrase which clearly denotes her attention to the neighbour: “Better be a light than merely be resplendent”.
