WHAT WE DO In the measure that a Catholic is hospitable to his brethren, the Bridgettine Sisters, whilst keeping themselves open to the others and becoming “neighbour” to all without any distinction or exclusion, live their consecrated life to God with the three vows of chastity, poverty and obedience in an atmosphere of profound contemplation and apostolate.
.The commitment of the Sisters is to be as faithful as possible to the charisma of the two Saints and to be coherent witnesses to the Word of God, offered and shared during spiritual, ecumenical and cultural meetings of high level.
From the House in Piazza Farnese, to Camaldoli and Farfa, Olgiata and Lugano and in all the other houses scattered all over the world, the Bridgettine Sisters practise their apostolate through hospitality whether it is done with an ecumenical aim or as a service during spiritual meetings. The Bridgettine houses are “hostels” of ecumenical charity, of activity and hospitality strengthened by a spiritual and cultural outlook.
In the Bridgettine Order, the understanding and the study of ecumenism form part of the dialogue between the Churches and the different religions: the scope is to further European unity. The Centre in Farfa, in line with the teaching of the Church and of the Magisterium, and which was blessed by the Holy Father John Paul II himself, promotes cultural, civil and religious activities for the complete formation of man and for a serene interchange of ideas between persons in search of truth. That which Saint Bridget longed for in her tormented epoch is now being realised by her daughters, convinced that prayer and dialogue is the privileged and blessed way that can bring about true ecumenism that may reach the minds and hearts of men of good will.
